The Marshes Midwives are a community based team of Midwives based at Gallions Reach Health Centre, offering holistic care to women and their families during pregnancy and the weeks following delivery. Our services include antenatal clinics, parentcraft classes, homebirths and postnatal home visits.
|Sue Watson||Lead Midwife|
|Surenne Dalley||Midwife Support Worker|
We have a shared care approach to antenatal services. Most women book the first appointment with the GP at around 6 weeks so that the relevant referral can be made to the midwives. You will then see a Midwife for your "booking appointment" ideally between 8 and 12 weeks of pregnancy. (Your booking appointment could also take place at Queen Elizabeth Hospital)
Any scans you have will be at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Your Antenatal Clinic (ANC) appointments at 25 and 28 weeks will be with a GP at Gallions Reach Health Centre, after which point you will see the Midwives for the rest of your pregnancy.
Parentcraft (Antenatal) Classes:
1st 3 Thursdays of each month 17.00 - 18.30 at Waterways Childrens Centre
Following the birth of your baby, a Midwife will visit you at home, normally until your baby is about 10 days old, after which the Health Visitors will be in contact.
The Marshes Midwives have an office at Gallions Reach; we are in the office every weekday between 8.30am – 9.30am. During this time you can contact us on 0208 3121 494. At any other time you will need to leave a message, which we may not access and respond to until the next working day.
Any urgent concerns or questions should be directed to Delivery Suite on 0208 836 4522 / 4523 / 4529 (24 hrs)
During your pregnancy it is very important that you attend all of your appointments on time, otherwise you may not be seen.
If you need to cancel an appointment for any reason; please do so well in advance, and be aware that due to our high workload it may be several weeks before we are able to see you again.
