Joint Injections

Dr Patel is trained to provide steroid injections for common musculo-skeletal conditions such as frozen shoulder, knee osteoarthritis and plantar fasciitis. These are normally done in a special joint injection clinic which takes place every two to three weeks at the practice.

The need for steroid injection will be discussed by the doctor that sees you first and if appropriate you will be asked to book into the joint injection clinic. It is important to note that Dr Patel does not do certain injections, hence the need to discuss with a clinician before hand. If it is not possible to do a certain injection in the practice clinic, you will be referred to the appropriate specialist clinic in the community or the hospital.

In the practice clinic Dr Patel will confirm the need for treatment, obtain written consent and give you an information leaflet. More general information on steroid injections can be found on the Arthritis Research UK Website.
